About Karen

Karen Twight founded Twight's One-on-One Tutoring in 2004. Karen, a native of England, gained her education in computer science and business and went on to a career in computer-based training software. She worked for 10 years designing and implementing educational software for reading, spelling, and mathematics at the elementary and high school levels. She has always found working in the classroom with children the most rewarding area of her work. Karen applies these experiences in her One-on-One tutoring program.

Karen's Tutoring Philosophy

Karen's philosophy is centered on enabling families to benefit from personalized learning for their children.

 

Our current education system generally has 20-30 children (depending on age) per teacher and most often one centralized learning plan in a classroom. This educational model can cause parts of a child's learning to become overlooked or omitted through no fault of their school. It's impossible for a schools limited resources to tailor a learning experience to each child.

Twight's One-on-One tutoring can help bolster a child's school or home school experience by providing students with a personalized plan and individual teaching time. The tutoring plan will focus on the aspects of a subject that the student finds particularly difficult or challenging, and supplementing their formal education with complimentary learning activities.

 

She believes education is more about establishing a framework for learning that will last a lifetime.
